“Of good and evil much they argued then,
Of happiness and final misery,
Passion and apathy, and glory and shame,
Vain wisdom all, and false philosophy!”John Milton, Paradise Lost, 1667, bk.2
Every month the increased light of the Full Moon offers us an opportunity to clearly see the terrain we are walking, the conditions affecting our decisions, and the potential that we have available to carry us forward to achieving our goals. This month’s Full Moon in Sagittarius is exact on June 14 at 23º52′ , 12:51 GMT/7:51 EDT, and it brings great idealism and inspiration, making us want to think and do only the best, and see the good in everything. There is so much energy urging us to throw our backs into manifesting our dreams, and we are wide open to innovation, as anything new compels us forward with ever-grander plans. However, this month’s Sun/Moon opposition is also locked into a T-Square with Neptune, bringing with it a disarming, hazy sense that tomorrow doesn’t matter, that today is here to be enjoyed, and that the trials and tribulations of life will take care of themselves if only we have faith and do our best. We may feel a pinch, however, as we reach for our pleasures. With Saturn squaring the Venus/Uranus/North Node conjunction, tiresome matters of practicality will keep cropping up, but consider that a protective energy which keeps us from tipping over the edge into total delusion. Castles in the air may be beautiful, but we need to make sure we build real foundations strong enough to bear the tests of time. Saturn provides us with the energy we need to see things through long term, however onerous his lessons may be – use that boring energy to get stuff done. (Sorry, no fun!)
One of the strongest energies of this Full Moon lies with the tight Mars/Chiron conjunction in Aries. This conjunction speaks of a sense of wounding that lies in how we exert our aggression. We feel compelled to charge forward, engage in combat and win, but even when we win, we feel bad about it. A sense of guilt or shame sullies our victory, and try as we might with more combat and conquest, we cannot shake the feeling that somehow what we are doing is wrong. This is an important consideration at this time as we see escalating violence on every continent of the globe. Anger and frustration have compelled diving into the unthinkable, and the biggest trouble is that the rage feels so justified – just look at all the shootings that are occurring in the United States, the ongoing Russo/Ukraine War, and the continuing global aggression perpetrated in the name of “right” or “justice”. Whose rights? Whose justice? What is gained in shooting people down, bombing cities, raping and killing? Who is gaining from this violence and why? A good time to think about personal perspectives on aggression, weapons and war. The more positive energy we put into moving away from the world’s reliance on violence, the better it can be for everyone.
“What if someone gave a war & Nobody came?
Life would ring the bells of Ecstasy and Forever be Itself again.”Allen Ginsberg, Graffiti, 1972. Ginsberg was a Gemini, born 3 June 1926
Okay, enough heavy stuff. On the most fundamental level, this Full Moon will allow us a feel-good respite, and we can bask for a few days in an exuberant, optimistic view of the world. Just remember to think twice if you didn’t quite catch the drift of what someone said, if something seems just a little too good, or captivating, or delicious…you get the idea. We have great potential now to think things through deeply, and collect facts that will be very useful in our long-range planning process, so don’t be afraid to step back a moment before you dive in to your next grand scheme.
May this Full Moon inspire you, may it be spiritually stimulating, richly exciting, and light the way as you work to manifest your highest ambitions and deepest understanding. Thank you for reading.
